Most people answer this question by talking about the things they’d buy, the trips they’d take, they people they’d help, and the charitable causes they’d give to. It’s a fun conversation to have, but let’s look beyond the obvious and ask yourself this: What would you actually do, with the rest of your life, in between the charity and the trips?
Right now, you are probably working somewhere, at some job. Hopefully, you are fulfilled. But if you had half a gazillion dollars in the bank, would you still be doing it? My answer, honestly, is yes. Now, I might donate more profit to charity or take a couple more vacations a year. But I’d still be doing EXACTLY what I’m doing now–things like getting ahead by giving back and helping bright entrepreneurs turn their business idea into a business success.
Now, I’m not saying don’t go out and buy yourself a lottery ticket. But before you do, please ask yourself that question. And if you aren’t already doing what you answer, then ask yourself another question: Why?
